FAQ

Which porridge should I buy for my baby who is just starting solid food?

For babies who are six to eight months old and just starting to eat solids, you must choose a very smooth and gentle flour. We recommend the Aunt Porridge Composite Flour for 6 Months Old Babies or the Minas Lishe Composite Flour. Both are made with soft grains and vegetables that are easy for a new tummy to digest, which helps prevent gas and constipation.

If your baby is over nine months and needs to gain weight, you need high protein and healthy fats. We recommend the Minas Omena Porridge Flour with Fish or the NaNa Lishe Superfood Porridge. The Minas Omena is packed with fish protein and calcium. The NaNa Lishe is rich in healthy fats from cashewnuts and almonds. Both are powerful options for boosting healthy weight gain and building a smart brain.

Yes, we do! You need our Mama’s Pride Milk Booster Powder. This powder is a special blend of natural herbs that are known to gently stimulate your body to produce more breast milk. Simply add two spoonfuls to your daily porridge, food, or water. It helps you stay strong while providing your baby with all the milk they need.

How long a kilogram lasts depends on the age and appetite of your baby. Generally, for a six month old baby just starting out, a one kilogram pack should last for about three to four weeks, since they only eat a very small amount twice a day. For an older, more active toddler, it may last closer to two to three weeks.

Most of our porridges are gluten free because they are made from grains like Millet, Sorghum, and Corn, and from root vegetables and seeds. However, some of our products do contain Wheat (like the Aunt Porridge flours). If your child has a known allergy to gluten, please read the ingredient list on the packaging carefully or choose one of our flours that is made with only the naturally gluten free grains and roots. We always aim to use natural ingredients that are safe for most babies.
